Introduction

Hello! My name is Sam Bolin. Thank you for allowing me to share more about my high school career. I’m a senior at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. I have enjoyed my high school experience! Please scroll through this web page to see a bit of what I’ve been up to outside the classroom. Thanks again!

CENTER GROVE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL (Indiana)
2016 6A State Champion Runner-up (12-2)

2015 6A State Champion (14-0)

I have played football all throughout high school. I love this game and all that God can teach through the experience of teamwork, individual perseverance, pride… well, you name it. God has used football to build up my reliance on Him, my faith in His promises and my trust that He truly does have a great plan for my life. I love that Center Grove High School plays in the M.I.C., one of the toughest conferences in the United States (ranked #3 nationally). Every week, I practice against the best, and every Friday night, play against Division 1 players who now, or are committing to, play for schools like Cincinnati, Louisville, Notre Dame, Air Force, Indiana, and Michigan.

  • Position:  Starting Outside Linebacker and Special Teams
  • Selected by Head Coach, Eric Moore to represent the football team on our school’s inaugural “Captains Council ” established to create great working relationships between student-athletes and the Athletic Administration. In a program as large as Center Grove’s I was unbelievably honored to be selected!
  • Selected by the 2016 Football Senior Class as the 2016 Football Senior Class Speaker to present words of thanks and appreciation for our community at the 2016 Football Awards Ceremony.
  • As a junior and senior, Coach Moore selected me as one of six paid Power Club Leaders to work with youth in our community (grades 2nd through 6th), teaching form lifting, speed development, plyometrics, form running, agilities and more.
  • As a freshman football player, I was humbled to receive the team’s “Leader Among Leaders” Award – a great affirmation of a work in progress! (Click on the title “Leader Among Leaders” above to see the Coach’s comments.)
  • I have been blessed to be a part of a “day 1” football family, a raving football community, and student of one of the greatest coaches in high school football. Coach Moore’s program sets a high bar, demands exceptional commitment, and offers opportunity to lead in ways no classroom can offer.

Mission & Service

I went on my first international mission trip when I was in elementary school. That began a lifelong call to service. Since that time, my family, teams, church, and groups of awesome people have given me the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways. For example:

  • Bible Study Leadership (2011 – present)  Twitter:  @CG_Bible_Study
  • Tornado Relief  (2012)
  • Day of Caring (2013 – present)
  • CampAbility (2013 – present)
  • Appalachia Home Repair (2014 & 2015)
  • iCanBike (2015)
  • Worship Team (New Hope & Emmanuel Churches, 2015 – present)
  • Night to Shine (Tim Tebow Foundation – 2016)

My buddy Dylan and me “Postgame”!

One of the greatest privileges of serving has
been the people God has connected me to. For example, two years ago, I met a boy named Dylan at a program called iCanBike. We spent a week together, each day focused on helping him learn to ride a bike. Well… he didn’t care much for the bike riding, but we became friends for life. I am so blessed he is in my life and that I have a chance to show him the love of Christ and mentor him as he travels through life.

Learning Outside the Classroom

CENTER GROVE HIGH SCHOOL Class of 2017
I am a hands on and “small group” learner. I enjoy projects (like the one above), where I can take what I’m learning in the classroom and apply it to real life! Here are a few of my extracurricular academic activities:

  • Four-Year Delegate to Model United Nations (IUPUI & Indiana University)
  • Selected for full year 2016/2017 Senior Internship Program with Emmanuel Church, Greenwood Campus (3000+ members)
  • Awarded Student of the Month, August 2015
  • One of two freshmen to earn a spot in the 25-person Varsity Chamber Choir called “CG Singers” (consisted of in-class/after-school rehearsals and weekend competitions)
